Jan 2018 - NSBE: MSU Chapter
The National Society of Black Engineers was such an integral part of my college experience. They were also the reason I got my internship with the Air Force Research Laboratory AND my first job with IBM. I remember going back to NSBE's national conference in 2011 with IBM to recruit. I ran into one of the founders at the career fair. I was so excited to tell him what NSBE had done for me. But as time goes on and I moved into my career, I think I forgot the very things that made me successful.
In 2017, I made a vow to donate to an organization monthly. NSBE - MSU was my first donation. I don't think I would have made it through undergrad had it not been for the things this organization exposed me to. I received guidance and advice from seniors who had been in my shoes. I got support and friendship from people I will cherish for a lifetime. The network and career opportunities I benefit from everyday can not be recognized enough. It is a must that I continue to give back to this organization and uphold the mission statement:
"To increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community."
